The first deliveries of the Audi A4 of fifth generation (replaces the  A4 2012 ) began in November 2015. Since then there have been changes in the range of engines, but not a deep update of the model. The last significant change occurred in December 2018, when Audi adapted the name of its models to the new nomenclature ( more information about fifth wheel camper covers). The starting price is 35,430 euros, with gasoline engine, and 39,600 euros, with a diesel ( prices and equipment of the Audi A4 ). Between versions of similar power (190 horsepower diesel and automatic transmission, which is a common configuration in several of its alternatives), it is currently the cheapest model when compared to the Alfa Romeo Giulia , the BMW 3 Series or the Mercedes-Benz Class C – comparative technical sheet -. In addition to the normal versions, there are the two most sporting of the range, both with petrol engine:  S4  of 354 horses and RS 4 of 450 HP, treated in separate information.

After driving different versions of the Audi A4 2016, we conclude that it is a comfortable and efficient saloon, whose technological and comfort equipment can be very wide – more information in the interior prints -. It offers a driving feel very similar to that of the previous model and, like it was in that one, it is a car that in a short time is taken the measurement and its driving is simple (although to familiarize with all the devices that can equip is a longer period of adaptation is necessary). It is also silent (especially at sustained speed), comfortable for suspension and spacious for four occupants. Its body measures 4.73 m in length, making it 3 centimeters longer than the A4 2012. It is slightly larger than a BMW 3 Series 2019 and a Mercedes-Benz C Class 2018 (4.71 and 4.69 meters respectively ). The height is 1.43 meters, which is rather low for a saloon of this type and determines that the seats are placed relatively close to the ground by today’s standards (some people do not find it very comfortable to access the interior, or put a child seat from outside, precisely because the seats are relatively close to the ground). The Audi A4 is also available with a family body ( A4 Avant ) and another that has all-wheel drive as standard and a certain aspect of off-road ( allroad quattro ).

Despite the increase in size, the weight is lower and the aerodynamics is also more favorable than in the previous model. They are factors that contribute to the consumption of some versions is very low (more details about it in the section of  technical information ). The gain in exterior size is not noticeable inside. Audi says that it is greater the space for the legs but, according to our way of measuring, it is not. In any case, the space for the legs of the occupants of the rear seats is large, as well as the free height to the roof. The worst measurement is the width between doors, which makes it difficult for three occupants to travel comfortably in the rear seats. The trunk of the saloon has 480 liters capacity, interestingly, the same as an Alfa Romeo Giulia and a BMW 3 Series. A Class C has 455 l. With family body amounts to 505 liters. The A4 is available with gasoline-powered engines, with diesel fuel (after adaptation to the WLTP approval cycle, the g-Tron natural gas version is not available at the moment, nor are the other versions with a six-cylinder engine) . Audi offers two types of traction – front or total, called quattro – and three gearboxes – a manual of six relations and two automatic: «S tronic» of seven relations and «Tiptronic» of eight (when they are associated with a six-engine engine). cylinders), the first of double clutch type and the second of torque converter -. Below is a table with the combinations available from December 2018:

Audi uses the term “ultra” to refer to the low consumption versions, that is, those whose transmission developments, suspension adjustment and type of tires are designed to reduce fuel consumption as much as possible. On the other hand, the name “clean diesel” refers to the need for an additive ( AdBlue , a urea solution) to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides and thus comply with the Euro 6 emissions regulations. The driving assistants may require adaptation to know their operation and particularities and, at times, be somewhat overwhelming when they work simultaneously. It takes most of the elements that premiered the Audi Q7 2015  (which, since then, have become common in many other cars), as the predictive efficiency assistant, the active speed programmerwith traffic jam and traffic warning when you open the car doors. You can also have the semi-automatic parking system, the turn-in-turn assistant and the traffic notice on the back of the car (more detailed information in the section on Some equipment items ). Other elements available are the system of matrix lighting by LEDs or the information projected on the windshield . The instrumentation can be normal or a large screen ( video of this screen in the Audi TT ). There are several types of seats and different comfort elements such as heating and ventilation and three-zone climate control.

Car Service Contract Information

If you have purchased a car you may enjoy the added feeling of protection with a car service contract. Sometimes it is known as an extended warranty, it is important to note that a service contract is not a warranty as defined by federal law. A car warranty that comes with a new car is included in the original price; a car service contract is purchased separate and costs extra money. Before you decide to purchase a car service contract it is important to understand what it entails.

– Find out if the extended auto warranty overlaps with the warranty on the car. If there are parts that overlap it may not be necessary to purchase the service contract.

– Who backs the service contract? It is important to understand who performs or pays for the repairs based upon the contract. Under the terms of the contract it could be the manufacturer, the dealership, or an outside company. Many times the contracts are handled by an independent company. The auto warranty companies, known as administrators, act as claim adjusters. They authorizing payment for dealers covered under the contract. If either the dealership or administrator goes out of business, either one may still be required to cover the other no matter what happens.

– How much does the car service contract cost? Most contracts do not cover parts like brakes and clutches. If something is not listed, it is safe to assume that it is not covered. Make sure to keep an eye on absolute exclusions that can deny coverage for any reason. For example if only mechanical breakdowns are covered, then you will have to pay for problems that are caused by wear and tear. Another thing to watch for is a depreciation factor, which can lessen the amount paid to repair certain parts over the life of the car.

– What are your responsibilities? Under the contract you may have to follow what the manufacturer recommends for regular maintenance. This usually entails oil changes, changing spark plugs, and other routine maintenance. Failure to follow the guidelines could void the contract. Make sure to keep detailed records of all regular maintenance.

Extended warranties can offer 3 to 5 years cover as opposed to the 6 to 18 months offered by a standard dealer warranty. The terms of the warranty are just as important as the duration. Standard dealer warranties on used cars often only cover the engine and bodywork. Interior and electronics are often excluded. As long as you know the terms of the standard warranty and what aspects of the extended warranty are different you can make an informed decision as to whether the extended warranty will be worth taking.

This is one of the most important aspects of buying a used car. Being able to see service intervals and the garages used is a good indicator of how the car was treated in the past. In some cases you may also be able to see a certificate which verifies the mileage. This is particularly useful on older cars which have an unusually low mileage. If you are unsatisfied with the documentation provided, a HPI check can be carried out to give you a definitive answer.

Often used car dealers will have cars inspected before purchasing them. If that is the case, check the documentation provided by the inspecting body. If this is not available you may need to arrange one yourself if you are not 100% happy with the documentation.

MOT and Tax

Used car dealers normally sell their cars with an MOT. While it does not cost a lot to send your car for an MOT, the last thing you want is to find the car fails for some reason. Tax is less of a priority but it is worth checking whether this is included.

Breakdown Cover

Some used car dealers offer breakdown cover included in the cost of the car. If you have a frame of reference for the make, model and year of car you are buying you can judge roughly how this and any other extras affect the price.

What to Do If You Wreck Somebody Else’s Car

Your car is in the shop for a couple days, and your friend very generously lets you use her extra car until you get your back. Then the most humiliating thing imaginable occurs – you wreck her car! What happens now? To begin, obviously, you have to approach this as you would any other accident. Don’t call your pal on the phone in a scare. Dial the police, try to get selective information from the other motorist (unless this was a solo accident ) and any potential witnesses, and, if necessary, take some pictures of the damage to the vehicles. If anyone is seriously hurt, get medical assistance immediately. If you think you could have minor injuries, go to the physician as soon as you are able. Finally, think about phoning a car accident lawyer. If you are lucky, insurance will cover this with no issues. If not, you may need an attorney to look out for your desires.

If You Are at Fault

So, if everybody’s alright, nobody’s hurt, take a deep breath – that is often times the most important thing. If the authorities decide that you are at fault for the accident, your insurance agency should in all likelihood have to get involved. Fortunately, in many states, vehicle insurance follows the car rather than the driver. So long as you were driving your friend’s auto with her consent, her insurance will cover the majority of the damages. (There may be exceptions to this in certain contracts. Please have your friend check her contract.) If there’s anything that her contract doesn’t cover, their insurance company will ask your insurance company to pay. You should offer to cover her deductible, if any.

If the Other Driver Is at Fault

If the other driver is at fault, everything becomes simpler. Their insurance should cover the costs. The insurance company would only look to your pal’s policy if the other motorist’s policy did not cover something.

What Problems Can Come Up?

A variety of problems may spring up where you probably want to have your automobile wreck lawyer at hand. For instance, there are occasions where the owner of the automobile (your buddy ) refuses to get in touch with her insurance company because she’s scared her rates will go up. She may end up trying to sue you for the expenses. By law, her policy should pay, and your attorney may have to assert that in trial. If the accident involved wounds, either to you or the driver of the other vehicle, it can get dicey. Lawsuits start flying when people get injured, especially if the insurance agencies aren’t covering their end. You may need to get in touch with a personal injury lawyer to sort out the liabilities here. After the collision, remember to stay calm. Give the authorities the essentials that they require, but do not speak of opinions about fault or guilt. When you talk to the insurance agencies, be honest but heedful about what you say. Better yet, let a car accident attorney do the negotiating for you.
